Or as I like to call it, Deep Purple.
I’d like me a tall glass of this please. All things good. All things cold. And it’s PURRRRPLE.
Blueberries, banana and ch… ch… chia seeds (so fun to say!), all blended up with yoghurt to give you one terrific morning, evening, anytime drink. Sweetened with honey, only if you want to. A little sourness never hurt anyone.
So I’ve been seeing chia seeds everywhere. All the blogs, all the new fangled healthy cafes. Chia seeds are packed with pretty much every good thing your body needs. By themselves, not a lot of flavour, but they do take a bowl of plain yoghurt and make it something interesting. Usually crunchy, they soften slightly in liquids and I decided it was high time I tried them in a drink of some sort.
Enter, frozen blueberries. Half a banana for thickness and sweetness. Blitz blitz blitz.
I initially made a smoothie without bananas but it was missing something and was too sour, even with the honey. The banana is recommended and delicious.
On a hot summer day, this never tasted better 🙂 The yoghurt and berries give this smoothie a fabulous tang and it’s thick enough to be mid-meal snack. It tastes good and will make you feel even better. Get out your blender!
What you’ll need:
1/2 cup fresh/frozen blueberries (do not thaw)
1/2 of a large banana, sliced
1 cup plain yoghurt
2 tsps chia seeds
2 tsps honey, to taste
What to do:
1. Blitz the blueberries and banana till almost smooth.
2. Add the yoghurt, chia seeds and honey and blitz until completely smooth. Adjust the honey as needed.
3. Chill for 15 to 30 minutes (it tastes best fresh) and pour into two medium glasses or one tall glass. Prepare to feel great 🙂
