Leftovers are good. Especially when the leftovers are brownie bits. Then they’re really good.
Why was I lucky enough to have bits of fudgy brownies lying around? Because I made these brownie stuffed cookie cups. If you haven’t seen that post yet, you’re missing something. Take a look 🙂
Anyway, we also had some overripe bananas and I didn’t want to make more muffins (this was after all, the day after I made the cookie cups). So, I made a shake.
With bananas and brownie bits and a dollop of Nutella because I felt like it. Cold and creamy and banana-y with surprise brownie pieces. Mmmmmmm.
I added a bit of cocoa powder for extra chocolatey-ness, but the flavour was largely banana. Apart from the fudgy brownie bits of course. If you don’t have leftover brownies or cake, just cocoa and banana together tastes surprisingly good. Next time, I’m trying some peanut butter in there.
Go make!
What you’ll need:
2 very ripe bananas
1 tsp cocoa powder
1 and 1/2 cups cold milk
1/2 cup brownie or cake bits (optional but recommended)
Sliced bananas and Nutella to garnish
What to do:
1. Blend the brownie bits with a little bit of milk first.
2. Add the bananas, add a bit more milk, and blend again.
3. Add the cocoa powder and the rest of the milk. Blend well till you have a smooth, chocolate-y drink.
4. Pour into two glasses and top with sliced bananas and a dollop of Nutella.
hahah.. I like how you’ve written brownies are optional but recommended. Gotta love a chocolate banana shake!
Yes, when in doubt, throw in a brownie! I’m definitely making this again this summer 🙂
Among the dozen varieties of ice cream we made this year was chocolate brownie with chunks of brownie. You’ve giving us a great idea for dinner. Next step is to see if our Native Store has bananas!
That’s awesome! Glad this shake sparked off an idea 🙂 Chocolate brownie icecream is making me drool!
